2006-What will be doing?

January 2006-Edinburgh, Scotland
As the world enters into another new year, we face a uncertain future.
As parts of world reap the fruits of globalisation with China and India discovering that servicing the western world indeed pays! Many other countries- Malawi, Niger, parts of Sudan face food shortages, repression, deaths due to preventable diseases. Santa never came to these countries.
The Middle East - a region important to the world because of its rich hisory and resources of oil also faces a year of regime changes (?), fresh rounds of violence.
The area of rainforests diminish under the onslaught of commercial vandalism in Brazil, Indonesia..
This is not to start the year with a gloomy note. We have many things to look forward in 2006, checking if the Rich nations indeed keep their promises of wiping of the debts of the "Highly Indebted Nations" [HIN] at the G8 summit in St.Petersburg, MIT from USA is releasing the $100 Laptop, Soccer World cup in Germany, 2 new formats of DVD will be released [ Blu-ray by Sony and HD-DVD from Toshiba], Alternative fuels for automobiles like LNG will pick up, and it will be the 250th birth anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart!
